More Info
George was 11 or 12 years old when, with the help of the Patriarch of the Greek Catholic Church, he entered the boarding school and Seminary of the White Priests in Rayak, Lebanon. He remained there until graduation where he obtained a BS degree in elementary math, a BS degree in nuclear physics and a BS degree in Bio chemistry. After he left the seminary and decided not to get into priesthood, George taught mathematics at Antoura School. Later he did bio chemistry research at the Jesuite University in Beirut. In 1969, he went to Holland where he earned a degree as a master brewer, then returned to Lebanon and managed the Amstel Brewery in Beirut from 1971 to 1973. While he was in Holland, he met Marienet and the two of them remained in close contact until 1973 when he moved to Holland and the two of them were married. He learned the Dutch language and obtained a degree in industrial engineering then worked for Xerox until his retirement. George was diagnosed with kidney cancer. They removed the kidney and he lived 6 more years with only one kidney when they found that the cancer had spread to his second kidney and other organs as well as his brain. He received Chemo treatments and was bedridden for almost a year. Upon his death, he was cremated and his ashes buried in a cemetery in Helmond, Holland.
